Love is in the air for the world's tallest man on his wedding day

Sultan Kosen, 30, who stands at 8ft 3in, towers over his new bride, 21 year-old Merve Dibo who measures 5 foot 9inchs.

Sultan rose to fame in 2009 when he was named the world's tallest man by Guinness World Records.

On his first visit to London in September 2009 he said that he hoped his newfound fame would change his life, and help him find a wife:

He said: “It’s really difficult to find a girlfriend. They are usually scared of me. Hopefully now that I'm famous I'll be able to meet lots of girls. My dream is to be married."

In the two years that followed Sultan’s life did change as he received free life-saving surgery to stop his growth, as well as specially tailored clothing and the opportunity to travel the world.

Yesterday, he tied the knot in his native Turkey.

Sultan met his wife through a mutual friend, after she travelled from her home of Hasaki, in Syria, to his village Dede köy in Turkey.
They only begun dating two months ago, but say they knew immediately that they wanted to be together.

Sultan says: “When I looked into her eyes, I knew it was love”.

Merve says: “At first everyone around me told me not to marry him because of his height, but I fell in love with his heart, not his height. His height doesn't bother me at all.”

The couple, who are Muslim, enjoyed a full wedding party with over 1,500 guests, including a representative from Guinness World Records and local dignitaries.

After the wedding the happy couple headed back to their specially made home in Dede köy, where they say they hope soon to have two children “god willing.”

I fell in love with his heart, not his height. His height doesn't bother me at all.

Sultan Kosen, who stands at 2.52m (8ft 3in) tall, had given up on finding love as women were put off by his stature – until he met Merve Dibo.
The couple wed in Turkey today – and even though farmer Mr Kosen, 30, towers over Ms Dibo, who stands at 1.73m (5ft 8in) tall, the couple couldn’t be happier, he said.
‘Now I will have my own family and private life,’ he told reporters.
Recalling his long search for love and happiness, he added: ‘How unfortunate I could not find a suitable girl of my own size. But in my fiancee I’ve found the person for me.’
Now his dream of finding love has come true, he hopes to find a car big enough for his huge frame so his bride can travel by his side.

Why Do We Ask, “What Is Love?”

Whenever we ask, “What is love?” it’s usually because a) we’re unsure if a certain special someone really loves us, or b) because a certain special someone just accused us of not really loving them.

When we are truly engaged in giving and receiving love, we don’t ponder such philosophical questions. It’s only when something is lacking that we begin to analyze and contemplate what that thing actually is.

So then, what exactly is love?

True Love Is...

True Love is Caring. The ancient Greeks had many different names for different forms of love: passion, virtuous, affection for the family, desire, and general affection. But no matter how love is defined, they all hold a common trait: caring.

True Love is Attractive. Attraction and chemistry form the bond that allows people to mate. Without this romantic desire for another individual, a relationship is nothing more than lust or infatuation.

True Love is Attached. Like the mother-child bond, attachment comes after the initial attraction. Attachment is the long term love that appears anywhere from one to three years into a romantic relationship (sometimes sooner and very rarely after), and you'll know you've found it when you can honestly say, "I've seen the worst and the best you have to offer, and I still love you," while your partner feels the same way.

True Love is Committed. When it comes to true love, commitment is more than just monogamy. Its the knowledge that your partner cares for you and has your back, no matter what the circumstances. People who are strongly committed to one another will, when faced with seemingly negative information about their partner, see only the positive. For example, a friend comments that your partner doesn't say a lot. "Ah yes, he's the strong, silent type," you reply. People with less commitment to their partner would instead say something like, "Yeah, I can never have conversation with him. Its annoying."

True Love is Intimate. Intimacy is a crucial component of all relationships, regardless of their nature. In order to know another, you need to share parts of yourself. This self-revealing behavior, when reciprocated, forms an emotional bond. Over time this bond strengthens and even evolves, so that two people merge closer and closer together. Intimacy by itself if is a great friendship, but compiled with the other things in this list, it forms an equation for true love.

It Definitely Isn't...

Manipulation. "If you loved me, then you would..." isn't love, but rather infatuation.

Compromising who you are. If someone asks you to do or say something that isn't in your nature, that isn't true love. Although love does involve compromises between partners, someone who is in love with you will never ask you to change who you are in order to be loved.

Violent. Passions can definitely become inflamed with someone you love, but a relationship with physical or emotional violence isn't true love.

Just lust. Yes, chemistry and physical attraction are important, but true love also includes commitment, trust and respect.

What Actually Love Is

Why do we close our eyes when we sleep? When we cry? When we imagine? When we kiss?
This is because the most beautiful things in the world are unseen. We are all a little weird and life's a little weird
and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours,
we join up with them and fall in
mutual weirdness and call it love. There are things that we never want to let go of,
people we never want to leave behind,
but keep in mind that letting go isn't the end of the world,
it's the beginning of a new life. Happiness lies for those who cry, those who hurt,
those who have searched and those who have tried. For only they can appreciate the importance of the people
who have touched their lives. A great love? It's when you shed tears and still you care for him,
it's when he ignores you and still you long for him.
It's when he begins to love another and yet you still smile
and say I'm happy for you. If love fails, set yourself free,
let your heart spread its wings and fly again.
Remember you may find love and lose it, but when love dies,
you never have to die with it. The strongest people are not those who always win
but those who stand back up when they fall. Somehow along the course of life,
you learn about yourself and realize
there should never be regrets, only a lifelong appreciation of the choices you've made. A true friend understands when you say, I forgot,
waits forever when you say, just a minute,
stays when you say leave me alone,
opens the door even before you knock and says can I come in? Loving is not how you forget but how you forgive,
not how you listen but how you understand,
not what you see but how you feel,
and not how you let go but how you hold on.
It's more dangerous to weep inwardly rather than outwardly.
Outward tears can be wiped away while secret tears scar forever. In love, very rarely do we win
but when love is true, even if you lose,
you still win just for having the tingle of loving someone
more than you love yourself. There comes a time when we have to stop loving someone
not because that person has stopped loving us
but because we have found out
that they'd be happier if we let go. It's best to wait for the one you want than settle for one that's available.
Best to wait for the one you love than one who is around.
Best to wait for the right one
because life is too short to waste on just someone. Sometimes the one you love turns out to be the one who hurts you the most,
and sometimes the friend who takes you into his arms
and cries when you cry
turns out to be the love you never knew you wanted. If you really love someone never let go,
don't believe that letting go means that you love best, instead fight for your love,
that's what true love is. Laugh to your heart's content; you cannot go through life without it.
